We already lost 97% of our wild tigers last century, and unless we take urgent action we will lose the last 3200 tigers in the wild within twelve years, according scientists.
Therefore, Heads of governments from tiger range states will meet at a Tiger Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia to finalise a Global Tiger Recovery Program: a plan that aims to double the number of tigers in the wild by 2022.
Hosted by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the Tiger Summit is the first time world leaders have met to discuss the fate of just one species. So, that's the first success! The Tiger Summit takes place from 21-24 November, and today the Global Tiger Recovery Program was endorsed!! These funding commitments of the countries that still have wild tigers, support and show the way for what is needed to save one of Mother Nature most beautiful creatures.
